How the Bar Tab Works (and How Much to Load)

Virgin Voyages does drinks differently. There's no traditional unlimited beverage package. Instead, drinks are priced individually — much like a normal bar on land — and you can pre-load a Bar Tab that rewards you with bonus credit for loading more up front.

The idea is simple: put money on your tab before you sail, and Virgin tops it up. As a current guide, bonuses range from about $25 on a $200 tab up to $250 on a $1,000 tab, with the bigger tiers giving the best value. During promotions (Wave Season, Black Friday) those bonuses are often sweeter, and loyalty members sometimes get extra — so it's always worth checking the live offer before you load.

How much should you load?

Because you're not locked into a package, you're really just pre-buying drinks at a discount. A rough way to think about it: estimate a few drinks a day per person across your sailing, then pick the tab tier that covers it and grabs a healthy bonus. Anything left over can often be used across your voyage, and you can always add more on board.
