Sailing from Athens (Piraeus): Your Virgin Voyages Med Homeport Guide

Virgin's Greek Isles sailings depart from the Port of Piraeus, the historic gateway just outside Athens. Here's what to know.

The terminal

Virgin typically uses Terminal B or C at Piraeus, confirmed in the app a couple of days before you sail. It's a large, busy port, so give yourself a little buffer on the day.

Getting from Athens Airport

Athens Airport (ATH) to Piraeus is about 45–50 minutes. A taxi runs roughly €50 (agree the fare first), with rideshare and pre-booked transfers similar; there's also a direct airport bus for the budget-minded. From central Athens it's a shorter 30–40 minute ride. Respect your Terminal Arrival Time; luggage drop opens around 9:00 AM, and Virgin sometimes runs a shuttle to nearby Flisvos Marina for early arrivals.

Know before you sail

Spend a day or two with the Acropolis before you board — it's right there. And note that several Greek Isles ports (Santorini, Mykonos, and sometimes Kotor) are tender ports, where the ship anchors offshore and small boats bring you in — so plan a relaxed morning on those days.
