How to Reprice Your Virgin Voyages Cruise When the Fare Drops
Yes — if the price of your Virgin Voyages cruise drops before final payment, you can usually reprice and keep the savings. After final payment, your options shrink fast: typically no cash refund, sometimes a credit, often nothing. Here's exactly how the process works — and why our clients rarely have to think about it, because we watch every fare until final payment.
The 48-hour Best Price Guarantee (right after you book)
Virgin has a formal Best Price Guarantee for the first 48 hours after your booking confirmation is generated. If you find a lower advertised Virgin rate for the identical voyage — same ship, sail date, cabin category, and number of Sailors — you submit proof through Virgin's form, and they currently respond within about 72 hours.
What you get depends on how much you've paid:
• Partially paid: the fare difference comes off your remaining balance.
• Paid in full: the difference comes back as Future Voyage Credit, not cash.
The fine print matters. The guarantee covers the voyage fare only — not Sailor Loot, add-ons, or bundled promos — and it applies to bookings made directly with Virgin or through a First Mate agency like us.
Repricing before final payment
This is where the real money is. Until final payment, Virgin fares float — sales come and go, and cabin categories reprice constantly. If your sailing drops, your booking can generally be adjusted (or cancelled and rebooked) at the current lower fare, which reduces the balance you still owe.
Two things to check before you pull the trigger:
• Your promo perks. Bar Tab offers and promotional Sailor Loot are tied to the promotion you booked under. Reprice into a new fare and you take whatever the current promo is — which may be less. A $100 fare drop that costs you a $300 Bar Tab offer is a loss, not a win.
• Your fare tier. Virgin's VoyageFair Choices tiers — Base, Essential, Premium — carry different change and deposit rules, so the mechanics of a reprice depend on what you booked.
Our take: always run the total-value math, not just the fare math. We've watched Sailors chase a small price drop straight out of a much bigger perk.
What about after final payment?
Honest answer: usually nothing. Once you're paid in full and past the 48-hour Best Price Guarantee window, Virgin has no standing policy that reprices your booking when fares drop. Policies vary — ask us before assuming either way. What you won't get is a cash refund of the difference.
This is also why booking timing matters. If you're weighing when to jump, our guide to when to book Virgin Voyages covers how their pricing tends to move.
The Lock It In caveat
Lock It In (GTY) rates are Virgin's deeply discounted guaranteed-cabin fares — and the trade-off is flexibility. They're non-refundable, and outside the initial 48-hour Best Price Guarantee window there's no documented repricing path for them. If you booked Lock It In, you already took the lowest-risk-to-Virgin fare; treat that price as final.
