❄️ Winter Storm Fern vs. Your Vacation: What You Need to Know ❄️

Let’s be real: The only ice we want to see this weekend is in a cocktail on the pool deck. 🍹

Unfortunately, Mother Nature has other plans. Winter Storm Fern is currently sweeping across the country, bringing heavy snow, ice, and freezing rain to a massive stretch of the U.S.—from Texas all the way up to the Northeast.

If you are traveling this weekend (Jan 23 – Jan 26), especially to catch a cruise or a flight to the sun, here is your Cruise Boys™ Action Plan to navigate the chaos.

🚨 The Situation

A major winter system is impacting travel hubs across the South, Southeast, and Northeast.

  • Affected Areas: Texas (DFW/IAH), Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Atlanta, Charlotte, DC, Philadelphia, NYC, and Boston.

  • The Risk: Airlines are already canceling flights and issuing waivers. Do not wait until your flight is canceled to act.

✈️ Your Options (The "Cruise Boys" Playbook)

1. Check for Travel Waivers NOW Most major airlines (Delta, American, United, Southwest, JetBlue) have issued Weather Waivers.

  • What this means: You can likely change your flight to a different date (or route) for FREE—avoiding change fees and fare differences.

  • Pro Tip: If you can fly out today (Friday) or wait until Tuesday, move your flight immediately. Seats will disappear fast.

2. Use the App, Don't Call Airline hold times are going to be brutal.

  • The Hack: Use the airline’s mobile app or website to rebook. It is faster and shows you real-time inventory.

  • Secret Weapon: If you must call and can't get through, try the airline's international customer service number (e.g., the UK or Singapore line). They often pick up faster!

3. Cruisers: Don't Miss the Boat If you are flying in on the day of your cruise (which we always advise against, but hey, life happens!):

  • Look for flights to nearby airports (e.g., FLL instead of MIA, or HOU instead of IAH).

  • If you booked your airfare through the cruise line (Air2Sea, EZAir, etc.), call their emergency en-route support line immediately. They have teams dedicated to re-routing you.

🛑 Who to Contact

  • If you booked your flights yourself: Contact the airline directly via their App or Website.

  • If The Cruise Boys™ booked your air: Check your email for updates, but rest assured, we are monitoring the situation. If you are currently stranded, reach out to us ASAP so we can work our magic.

Stay safe, stay warm, and pack your patience. We’ll get you to the sunshine as soon as possible.

Sea More. Cruise More. (And hopefully, Shovel Less.)
