Royal Caribbean Takes Delivery of Legend of the Seas: Everything You Need to Know

Ahoy, cruise fans! The Cruise Boys® are back with some massive news from the maritime world. Yesterday, June 10, 2026, Royal Caribbean officially took possession of its highly anticipated third Icon Class ship, Legend of the Seas.

The official handover took place at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, marked by a massive celebration inside the ship's AquaDome with over 1,200 crew members and project partners. Executives like Royal Caribbean Group CEO Jason Liberty and Royal Caribbean International President Michael Bayley were on hand to formally welcome the ship to the family.

Here is everything you need to know about the newest mega-ship hitting the oceans:

Where is She Sailing?

If you want to be one of the first on board, pack your bags for Europe. Legend of the Seas makes her official debut on July 4, 2026. She will spend her inaugural summer season sailing 7-night Western Mediterranean itineraries, primarily out of Barcelona, Spain, and Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy.

In November 2026, the ship will cross the Atlantic and reposition to her new winter homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. From there, she will offer 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean sailings — and yes, every single one of those itineraries includes a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay!

Epic Onboard Highlights

As the third ship in the game-changing Icon Class, Legend of the Seas takes everything we already love about her sister ships (Icon and Star) and turns the dial up. Here is a taste of what is waiting on board:

  • 28 Dining Options: The ship introduces some incredible new concepts alongside returning favorites. Look out for the Hollywoodland Supper Club (a multi-course dinner inspired by old Hollywood) and Royal Railway – Legend Station (a five-course immersive train dining journey).

  • Next-Level Entertainment: The theater will feature a full production of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well as America’s Got Talent LIVE. You can also expect returning Icon Class staples like the "Shockwave" AquaTheater performance and the "Fusion" ice-skating show at Absolute Zero.

  • Thrills and Chills: The ship features seven pools, including Royal Bay (the largest pool at sea), plus the Category 6 waterpark, the FlowRider surf simulator, and the returning Crown’s Edge — a terrifyingly awesome part-skywalk, part-zip line experience suspended 154 feet above the ocean.

  • Signature Neighborhoods: All eight neighborhoods are back, including Surfside for young families, the exclusive Suite Neighborhood, and Central Park, which features over 30,500 real plants.

Cruising Toward a Greener Future

Legend of the Seas isn't just about size and thrills; she's also a major step forward for maritime tech. She is Royal Caribbean’s fourth ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). She features advanced waste-heat recovery systems and shore power connectivity, directly supporting the brand's goal to introduce a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.
